A Westchester man was arrested for allegedly threatening to blow up a building that houses New York state’s coronavirus testing command post.
Pedro Cheng, 54, allegedly called the GHP office building in New Rochelle Monday and said he was going to “blow up this (expletive) building with all of you guys inside,” according to state police and a criminal complaint obtained by local web sources.
The complaint didn’t mention the coronavirus testing center set up inside the building by the Department of Health. It also houses the Westchester County Department of Health.
The building was put on lockdown Monday night and a search by bomb-detecting K-9s didn’t turn up anything.
Cheng was arrested Tuesday and arraigned in Westchester County Court on a felony charge of making a terroristic threat.
State Supreme Court Judge Barry Warhit released Cheng without bail, because of the state’s new bail-reform laws, local web site reported.
He’s due back in court May 5.
