WASHINGTON DC: The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)’s Deputy Director Andrew McCabe has announced retirement, the US media reported.
McCabe reportedly made this decision following President Donald Trump’s allegations of being politically biased.
He was expected to leave the federal agency in March as its second top official.
American news website NBC reported via its sources that McCabe “was exercising his retirement eligibility and characterized his decision as stepping aside.”
It said McCabe will remain FBI employee until his retirement is due in March.
FBI authorities have neither confirmed nor denied the reports of Andrew McCabe’s retirement so far.
