NEW DELHI: Air India has announced to start a non-stop, twice a week flight from Amritsar to Birmingham.
The first flight for this route will fly on February 20, using Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
The initiative from India’s leading airline will ease out problems Flyers between Amritsar and Birmingham all, as they will no longer have to transit through Delhi.
“The new flight will operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The flight will leave Amritsar at 1.55 pm hrs and reach Birmingham at 5.15 pm (all local timings). The return flight AI 118 will take off from Birmingham at 6.45 pm and reach Amritsar next day at 7.45 am,” AI said in a statement.
“AI’s direct flight between Amritsar and Birmingham will not only fulfil the needs of the ethnic community to fly directly to the holy city of Golden temple but also help to develop better tourism and trade relations in general,” the airline said.
