Afghan Taliban Released 17 Pakistani Hostages

KHYBER AGENCY: The Afghan Taliban have released 17 Pakistani hostages kidnapped five months ago from Landi Kotal area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

These Pakistanis were abducted from Adil Khad area of Landi Kotal in September last year.

They were later shifted to Afghanistan. They had been kept in the Lal Pur district of Nangarhar province, Afghanistan.

According to families of kidnapped Pakistanis, their loved ones were kidnapped for ransom and remained in captivity for five months.

They were released late Friday after the poor families failed to pay the ransom.

The families of captives are expecting their loved ones to reach Pakistan today.

They have reached at the Torkham border to receive their loved ones.

Khyber Agency political agent Khalid Mahmood said, “The hostages could have been recovered through law enforcement agencies’ efforts.”
