KABUL: Afghanistan’s intelligence agency has arrested 8 members of Islamic State (IS) in the capital city, Afghan media reported.
National Directorate of Security (NDS) announced that in a statement on Saturday.
According to the NDS statement, the insurgents, involved in a range of activities including assassinations, were arrested in separate operations.
The statement detailed that the militants were working to recruit youth and plan terror attacks.
The militants have been identified as Javed, Azizullah, Bilal, Sediqullah, Qudratullah, Ikramullah, Muhibullah and Ali Ahmad.
NDS said in its statement that the insurgents have confessed being part of Daesh since long.
It said they would collect money in the name of building mosques and madrassas.
The group was also involved in transferring Daesh militants to Nangarhar province, planting mines, carrying out assassinations and carrying explosives, the statement added.
