Pakistan Court Limits VVIP Roadblock in Sindh

KARACHI: The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan directed Inspector General (IG) Sindh Allah Dino Khawaja to ensure that road blockade for VVIP movement is limited to two minutes.

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar issued this order during the hearing of a human rights application against road blockade during VVIP movement. The verdict of the case heard by CJP, Justice Faisal Arbab and Justice Sajjad Shah was released on Tuesday.

Case proceedings were carried out at Karachi Registry of the SC on Saturday. Where, advocate general Sindh and IG Sindh were summoned by SC to present their explanation on the alleged prolonged blockades.

IG Sindh Khawaja informed the judges that roads are blocked for certain VVIPs as per “Blue Book Protocols”.

CJP Nisar in response to this argument ordered, “If that being so, as per the Blue Book the traffic block should be imposed strictly for not more than two minutes so that minimum inconvenience is caused to the public”.
