DUBAI: Huge blow Islamabad United as their super-over hero against Lahore Qalandars and a match-winner all-rounder Andre Russel has been ruled of the remaining matches of the HBL PSL 2018 with a freak hamstring injury.
The West Indian all-rounder suffered from a hamstring while fielding against the Karachi Kings on Sunday night. He could not come to bowl or bat in the match.
Sources say that he has been suggested at least two weeks rest to fully recover.
The 29-year-old all-rounder is expected to be fit again at the stroke of IPL 2018 which is set to start from April 17.
Andre plays for Kolkatta Knight Riders in IPL.
Russell, who missed last year’s PSL due to a ban on doping whereabouts clause, had managed four wickets in the three games and had scores of 11, nought and 15.
Islamabad United have been facing the injury issues since the start of the season. First, their captain Misbah ul Haq missed initial matches with a hamstring; Rumman Raees led the team in his stead.
Then Raees hurt his knee during the match against Quetta last week, he is also out of the tournament for next three matches.
