US Ambassador to Pakistan Paul Jones said
Pakistan-US relations between Pakistan and the United States are strengthening over time, joint efforts by Pakistan and the United States are proving to be beneficial for peace in region and Afghanistan.
Addressing the Independence Day ceremony at the US Consulate in Karachi, Paul Jones said that Pakistan is the second largest country in the world for military training and education from US. Trade relations between the US and Pakistan are growing. Pakistan’s exports to the United States reach 4 billion dollar in 2019, which is a record, while the US is one of the five largest investing countries in Pakistan for the last 19 years. Top US companies have pledged 1.5 billion dollar more investment in the country. He said that Karachi reminds me of New York, it is the city of lights. He congratulated freedom and said that Pakistanis and the establishment of a wonderful partnership between the American people from Pakistan. The US helped us establish a hospital in Jacobabad, repair the water supply and damaged schools in flood effected area, which are signs of the strengthening of Pak-US relations. He thanked the US government for training police and law enforcement agencies and providing them with equipment.
The Chief Minister said that the US Pak cooperation has restored peace in the city and the province and it is time for US companies to invest openly in Pakistan.
Governor Sindh said that Pakistan was going through a difficult period for two decades. Pakistan war on terror to stop terrorism not only for its own soil but also for the peace in the world and we see US support in this war with appreciations.
Consul General Karachi, Robert SilberstienAddressing the ceremony, American Consul General Robert Silberstein, who was stationed in Karachi, thanked the guests on the occasion. National anthems of both countries were also played on the occasion
