Hong Kong dents Afghanistan’s World Cup Hopes

HARARE: In a massive set back for Afghanistan, Hong Kong have beat them by 30 runs under D/L method in the Group B match of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier on Thursday.

This was Afghanistan’s third defeat in the third game they played in the tournament so far. After this loss, their chances to advance in the next round have almost ended.

Only a miracle can take them into Super Six round.

Hong Kong batted first after winning the toss and with Rath’s brilliant 65-run inning posted a total of 241/8.

Mujeeb Zadran and Mohammad Nabi took 3 wickets apiece.

Afghanistan took a strong start of the chase, but Ehsan, with his magical spell of off-spin bowling, hurts Afghanistan’s chase big time.

Afghans kept losing wickets at regular interval. They were 195/9 in the 46 overs when rain halted the play. Ehsan bagged 4 wickets for 33 runs.
